Memory Maze Blog Hop

Welcome to the Memory Maze's first ever blog hop!!

If you didn't come from Amanda Lawrence's  blog or you popped upon this blog and didn't realize we were blog hopping you need to go to the Memory Maze blog and start the HOP!
You will need to comment on ALL of the blogs to be eligible for the prize. Plus some of our awesome designers are giving away a prize on their blogs as well.
Here's what you could win from Memory Maze.

The Winner will be announced at the Memory Maze blog on the 26th May !
Our theme for this blog hop is Technique, each of our wonderful design team members will show you how to decorate those chipboard pieces or create new chipboard piece.

Now I will share my projects with you. I  wanted to create a soft dreamy textured back ground using one of my favourite chipboard shapes ~ the butterfly S0060.

The Background

1. Adhere the chipboard to the top left hand corner of the base cardstock.

2. Paint the butterfly with a thick coat of Ranger Distress Crackle Medium.

3. Extend the crackle medium down the base cardstock.
4. Let the crackle medium dry - if you are like me and like everything to happen fast, hit it with a
hot air gun to speed up the process.
5. Dribble pink gesso at the bottom of the butterfly and spread with a flat edge tool.
6. Keep adding splats and scrapping the gesso down until you build up the effect you are after.
7. Wipe off some of the gesso from where the crackle medium is to show the white through and let dry.
8. Flick some mint green gesso over the pink crackle butterfly.
9. Pour a small pool of mint green gesso at the base of the butterfly.

10. Lift the base cardstock up vertically and allow that pool of mint green gesso run in dribbles down the page.
11. Tilt the page left and right to control the way the dribbles go.

12. Tilt it the opposite way to make the dribble zig-zag slightly.

13. I have created my background on the diagonal.

14. Using a bamboo stick add some dots to the dry pool of mint green gesso - this breaks up the solid pool.
15. Build you your layout around the background.

Finishing Touches

I wanted to use the Butterfly Dreams Frame  ~ frame 2 but I wanted it to fit in with my soft background so I added a subtle pink glitter finishing.

1. Coat the chipboard frame with white gesso.

2. Add glue to the frame, I did not add glue to all of the frame as I wanted the
white gesso to show through for a softer touch.

3. Sprinkle glitter to the frame.

4. This photo shows how I left the glue off in spots to show the white underneath.
