Today I’m sharing my Design Team layout created with the absolutely stunning Floral Mechanica collection from 3Quarter Designs and honestly, this collection would have to be one of my favourites to date. The rich purples, soft pinks, beautiful florals and vintage touches are completely “me”, and I fell in love with it the moment I opened the pack.
What makes Floral Mechanica so unique is the clever combination of feminine beauty and mechanical elements. The gorgeous flowers with the soft colour palette and the bolder bright reverse of the printed papers are balanced perfectly with clocks, cogs and vintage metallic details, creating a collection that feels elegant, artistic and just a little bit edgy all at once. I’ll admit, the mechanical pieces challenged me at first because I naturally gravitate toward florals, but that is exactly what made this layout so much fun to create.
To add extra texture, I incorporated doilies, tangled cotton thread, pearls and embellishments throughout the clusters. These little finishing touches help create that soft, romantic feel while still complementing the stronger mechanical components. I also distressed the edges of the background slightly and framed the layout with the gorgeous purple tones from the collection to help draw the eye inward toward the photo and central design.
Did you know there is actually a meaning behind the name 3Quarter Designs? Well, the idea is that the collections are already “three quarters done” for you. The papers, embellishments, cut-aparts and coordinating elements are designed to work together so beautifully that creating a stunning layout becomes easy. All you really need to add are your adhesives and perhaps a few personal finishing touches...... they are 3/4 put together for you!! It’s one of the reasons I love working with these collections so much, they make the creative process feel effortless while still allowing plenty of room to make each project uniquely your own.
Floral Mechanica truly is such a versatile collection. You can create soft feminine layouts like this one, lean heavily into the vintage mechanical side, or even create masculine projects depending on which elements you feature most. That versatility is what makes 3Quarter Designs collections so special.
