May Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop Reveal

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog "Three Obsessions" you should have found your way here from the May Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop, hope you have enjoyed the journey so far. I will pop a Master List at the bottom of my post and you can continue to hop along with the rest of the Master Forgers.

The kit that was picked to counterfeit this month was the Eat Play Love Kit from Close to My Heart.

Here is an image of what it looks like.

Easy as Pie

So what inspired me from the kit this month? The stand out was the red - it just popped out from the rest and called my name, it is such a vibrant colour in comparison to the other colours in the kit, so it was my stating point. I then looked at the theme of the kit and saw that it was about cooking or household/kitchen items. With the colour red and the them set in my mind I started my forge through my stash and pulled the following items together to create my kit for May, I have even thought of a title for my kit this month.... Easy as Pie!!

I went straight for my red pile of papers and found some checks, strawberries and cherry patterns and decided that they would work both for the colour and the "kitchen/cooking" theme .... after all food is found in the kitchen!! I realised that I didn't really have many papers that would fit the kitchen/cooking theme so I stuck with the fruits and added pineapples, lemons, pears and apples to the collection. The rest of the papers I matched to the idea of flowers and some blue as it was the second colour that stood out from the original kit.

I had a bit more luck in finding some cut-apart sheets in the kitchen/cooking theme and added these to my kit. I also found an older 6x6 bracket paper in red and flowers so it was added too.

Next up embellishments, once again I had to dig deep in my supplies to find a few that related to the theme, but I did mange to find some. Flairs, patches and a gem icecream. When I looked at my kit now I was thinking it looks a bit "old fashioned" so going with that I added some little wooden pegs, the felt and paper doilys, some pearls and a few woodgrain sequins. I must admit I am loving how it has come together and can not wait to use it, hopefully my layouts come together "Easy as Pie."
