I’m back with another 3Quarter Designs Design Team layout using the gorgeous Butterfly Grove Collection.

For this page I wanted to show just how beautifully this collection works with feminine photos. These photos of Bronte all dressed up and heading off to the races were the perfect match — looking every bit as GLAM as only a 19-year-old can.

I really loved the softer pinks and purples in Butterfly Grove, with those little touches of orange and brown adding just enough contrast. The flowers and butterflies were an obvious choice for these photos, so I layered plenty of fussy-cut florals around the photo area and tucked in a couple of butterflies to add a little movement.

One of my favourite parts of this layout is the striped border strip running vertically down the page. You already know I’m loving the stripes in this collection, and here they became a real feature rather than just a small accent. They help draw your eye down through the two photos and break up the softer patterned background beautifully.

I also added some loose thread behind the embellishment clusters for extra texture and finished the page with the gorgeous quote: “Let your spirit wander through butterfly groves.”

Butterfly Grove – Enjoy Each Moment - 3 Quarter Designs Design Team Reveal

 Today I’m sharing another 3Quarter Designs Design Team layout created with the beautiful Butterfly Grove Collection.

This layout is all about one of those completely random little moments that ends up becoming a favourite memory. These photos of me with my girls were taken while we were just messing around and taking selfies together — nothing posed or planned, just us having fun.

Butterfly Grove worked so beautifully with these candid photos. The soft pinks and purples, touches of orange and all those gorgeous florals gave me plenty to work with without overpowering the photos.

I created a layered photo area across the centre of the page and added torn strips of patterned paper behind the photos for some extra texture. I also snuck in some of those fabulous stripes again — I really do love the striped papers in this collection.

For the embellishing, I used plenty of fussy-cut flowers and leaves, building small clusters around the photos and in the corners of the page. I mixed these with some of the black-and-white florals to break up the colour a little, then added loose thread, little gems and my favourite finishing touch — plenty of ink splatters.

The title “Enjoy Each Moment” seemed just right for these photos because sometimes it really is the ordinary, silly moments together that are the ones worth remembering.

I’m really enjoying how versatile Butterfly Grove is. It works just as beautifully for those everyday family photos as it does for something more feminine or glamorous.

Have you heard about the new Colour Your Own DieCuts? They are designed so you can colour them to suit the layout you are working on, or coordinate them with your favourite 3Quarter Designs collection.

But when I started playing with the Floral Elements on this page, I really loved the look of the flowers just as they were in black and white. Against all the soft pinks, purples and florals in Butterfly Grove, they added such a lovely contrast that I decided not to colour them at all.

I love that they give you the choice — colour them to match your page, or leave them black and white and let them become a feature on their own.

Wand Academy – Enchanted Places - 3 Quarter Designs Design Team Reveal

 I’m sharing another 3Quarter Designs Design Team layout created with the Wand Academy Collection, and this one was a bit of a challenge I set myself. Rather than using Wand Academy for a traditional magical or wizard-themed page, I wanted to see if I could turn it into a travel layout. Once I looked closely at the gorgeous brickwork, stone textures and aged papers in the collection, I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use — our visit to Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

The brick background was such a perfect starting point. It worked beautifully with the old stone walls and incredible architecture in my photos and gave the whole page that ancient, weathered feel I was after.

I made the large photo of Adrian and me at Angkor Wat the main focus and framed it with a stone arch, which almost feels like you are looking through an old doorway towards the temple. I then added a long strip of smaller photos down the left-hand side to show some of the amazing details we saw while exploring the complex — the carvings, corridors, stairways and stonework.

I wanted the page to feel a little bit like an old explorer’s journal, so I used plenty of torn layers, distressed edges, foliage, flowers and feathers around the photos. I also added splatters across the brickwork to break up the background and give it a slightly more aged and textured look. The quotes from the collection worked beautifully with the travel theme too. “Mystical moments await those who look for them” was perfect above the main photo, while “Curiosity unlocks enchanted places” summed up the whole experience so well.

That is one of the things I really enjoy about working with 3Quarter Designs collections. You don’t have to use a collection exactly as the theme suggests. By looking at individual colours, textures and elements in a different way, you can take it in a completely new direction.

Wand Academy may be filled with magic and fantasy, but for me the brickwork, stone textures and vintage details were just as perfect for capturing the mystery and history of Angkor Wat.

Cast A Spell – Wand Academy - 3 Quarter Designs Design Team Reveal

 Today I’m sharing a 3Quarter Designs Design Team layout created with the gorgeous Wand Academy Collection, and this one really was the perfect match for my photo. The photo is of Paige during her Harry Potter obsession phase, dressed up in her robes with wand in hand and looking very serious about the whole wizarding business. As soon as I saw Wand Academy, I knew I had to use this photo.

I chose the fabulous brickwork background paper as my base because it immediately gave the page that old magical-school feel. From there I built the layout around the photo using all those wonderful Wand Academy elements — the books, potion bottles, vintage labels, foliage and magical ephemera.

The large bookshelf in the top left helped frame the page beautifully, while the stack of books and bottles in the bottom right created balance and gave me a second strong cluster. I also layered foliage and smaller labels around the photo so that everything flowed together rather than looking like separate embellishments.

Of course, the “Cast A Spell” piece had to become the title. It was absolutely made for this photo and gave the layout that little bit of Harry Potter attitude I was looking for.

One of my favourite things about the Wand Academy Collection is just how much there is to work with. There are so many detailed elements that can be fussy cut and layered, making it easy to create lots of depth and dimension without having to pull in a heap of extra products from your stash.

I also love how the colours work together. The earthy browns, greens and touches of blue give the collection that vintage magical feel, but they are still neutral enough to let the photo remain the focus.

For anyone with Harry Potter photos, book-loving kids, fantasy layouts, dress-up photos or anything with a little bit of magic, Wand Academy is such a fun collection to play with.

And in this case, it really did feel like this collection was made for Paige.

Wand Academy Collection – Potions and Possibilities - 3 Quarter Designs Design Team Reveal

 Today I’m sharing another 3Quarter Designs Design Team layout created with the fabulous Wand Academy Collection, and this time I wanted to show just how versatile this collection can be. At first glance, Wand Academy is perfect for all things magical, wizardry and fantasy, but when I started looking through all those gorgeous potion and apothecary bottles, I immediately thought of something completely different — cocktails.

These photos are from our trip through Vietnam and Cambodia, where we certainly sampled our fair share of delicious cocktails and drinks along the way. The potion bottles in Wand Academy were just too good not to use with them. They gave me the perfect excuse to turn the collection into my own little magical cocktail bar.

I built the centre of the layout with lots of torn and distressed paper layers, then arranged my photos across the top so they overlapped and felt like a collection of little holiday snapshots. I added some blue cardstock behind the photos to help separate all those bright drink colours from the background and to pick up the beautiful blue tones already running through the collection. Then came my favourite part — all the fussy cutting and layering. I used the potion bottles, florals, foliage, feathers and vintage-style elements to create large dimensional clusters around the photos. I especially love the bottles gathered together in the bottom right corner. Once they were layered with the flowers and feathers, they really did start to look like they belonged in a rather mysterious cocktail bar.

The collection phrases worked perfectly too. “Brewing Something Magical” became a fun feature at the top of the layout, while “Potions and Possibilities” was the perfect finishing touch down in the bottom corner.

Apart from the blue cardstock, I really didn’t need to add much from my own stash, and that is one of the things I love about 3Quarter Designs collections. There are papers, images, titles and so many elements to fussy cut that you can build a detailed, layered page without needing to search through piles of extra embellishments.

I also love taking a themed collection and using it in a way that perhaps wasn’t originally intended. Wand Academy may have been designed with magic and wizardry in mind, but for me those potion bottles were just waiting to become cocktails.

Sometimes you just have to look at a collection a little differently… and sometimes after a few cocktails the inspiration strikes.

Cambodia Adventure – Border Crossing

Another holiday, another adventure and another country to tick off the list. After exploring Vietnam, it was time to cross the border into Cambodia. Of course, I had to capture the moment with a group photo at the border crossing. It's not every day you walk from one country into another.

Cambodia certainly gave us plenty of memories to scrapbook. From the incredible temples of Angkor Wat and the magnificent tree roots at Ta Prohm to the beautiful architecture and colourful nightlife of Siem Reap, there was so much to see and experience.

For this layout, I decided to have a bit of fun with my photos and created oversized map pins using different patterned papers. I love how they let me squeeze several holiday highlights onto one 12x12 page without making it feel overcrowded.

I kept the background fairly simple with white cardstock, adding some colour with ink splatters, a little stamping and hand-drawn stitching. The dotted travel trails, complete with tiny hearts, help connect the photos and give the whole page a sense of adventure.

A few layered banners, a tag, some fussy-cut leaves and little travel embellishments finished everything off. And, of course, I couldn't resist adding a few enamel dots for extra dimension.

I love how this layout captures a little bit of everything from our Cambodian adventure, from crossing the border to exploring ancient temples and enjoying the sights and sounds of Siem Reap.

One country, so many wonderful memories and definitely an adventure to remember.

A Purrfect Collection

I recently went to a scrapbooking retreat and whilst there I reached for an unused kit - telling myself that I was going to kill the kit and Oh my goodness, I had soooo much fun playing with the Fur Baby Cat collection from Simple Stories. Over the years, we have had quite a few gorgeous fur babies join our family, and like any proud cat mum, I have taken hundreds of photos of them. Some of these precious little characters are sadly no longer with us, so being able to scrapbook their photos and preserve those memories has been extra special.

And seriously, could there be a more perfect collection for doing just that? I absolutely LOVE the bright, happy colours, gorgeous patterns and adorable cat-themed embellishments in this range. The combination of orange, yellow, green, teal and navy works beautifully together.

I created all five layouts using just the Collection Kit, which includes the double-sided patterned papers and a 12x12 sticker sheet. I really couldn't believe how far those papers stretched, especially when I started using the reverse sides and even the smallest offcuts.

I had a ball getting creative with the papers, making everything from giant cat paws and cute little ears to torn claw marks revealing the colourful patterns underneath.

Of course, I couldn't resist adding some of my favourite techniques along the way, including ink splatters, hand-drawn details, faux stitching and lots of layering. I even raided my stash for some coloured twine to create balls of yarn.

The tags and cut-apart elements were fabulous for adding extra layers and details while making the most of every sheet. And that is what I loved most about this collection. Even though all five layouts use the same range, they look completely different.

From cheeky kittens getting into mischief to those beautiful little faces we never want to forget, this collection was just perfect for documenting some very special memories and I loved every minute of it and I just wanted to share them all with you.

Butterfly Grove collection by 3Quarter Designs

Butterfly Grove was perfect for these photos of our little Yorkshire Terrier, Pip. 

I loved this collection so much that I wanted to use it sparingly and stretch it across as many layouts as I could, so I started with white cardstock and added stamping, stencilling and splatters to complement the beautiful sage, purple, peach and cream tones.

The little woodland creatures worked perfectly with the photos, and the quote “Little animal hearts leave the sweetest footprints” made the page especially meaningful. Pip left us far too soon, but she certainly left her footprints on our hearts

Mrs Aeronaut Collection - Design Team Reveal for 3Quarter Designs

Hello everyone, today I'm sharing my layout I created with the beautiful Mrs Aeronaut collection from 3Quarter Designs. It’s not often Paige swaps her usual tomboy style for something a little more girly, so this photo from her Year 10 Graduation was the perfect match for this collection. I love how the elegant florals soften the page, while the clockwork cogs, butterflies and vintage steampunk details add just the right amount of edge to reflect her personality. It really is the perfect balance of feminine and strong. Although Paige would argue with me over the deep pinks in the collection - I think it is perfect. 

One of the things I love most about the 3Quarter Designs 12x12 collections is that they really do contain almost everything you need to create a beautiful layout. The papers, fussy-cut elements and coordinating embellishments work together so effortlessly that your page is almost three-quarters complete before you even start adding your own finishing touches. 

From there, it's simply a matter of making it your own. For me, that usually means a little extra texture with a stencil, a few splatters, perhaps an enamel dot or two, and sometimes a title. Although, with all the gorgeous printed graphic papers included in the collections, even that isn't always necessary.

The Photo / Memory Mats are one of my favourite additions to the 3Quarter Designs collections. They make planning your photo placement so much easier and double as a protective cover while adding those final splatters and finishing touches.

For this layout I couldn't resist reaching for the Gimme More Pack, where I used one of the rice paper pieces as my title. The "Believe in yourself and you can do great things" sentiment that I tore from the rest of the rice paper was the perfect finishing touch for a graduation layout and tied the whole design together beautifully.

If you love creating richly layered scrapbook pages with plenty of texture, depth and gorgeous details, I can highly recommend the Mrs Aeronaut collection.
