Counterfeit Kits

Recently I came across a blog that I had never heard of and let me tell you it has got me shopping my own stash and using what I have.....and I have a lot. It is called Counterfeit Kits and the idea is that on the 5th of every month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog will choose a kit from a popular kit club (for inspiration) and challenge us to create a "counterfeit kit", using just the supplies you already own. They keep the kits fairly current and they won't be more than one year old.

In addition to the "counterfeit" challenge, they also include a few other challenges (to actually USE these kits), a few tutorials (for creating your own embellishments), and a blog hop (toward the end of the month for everyone to SHARE their "counterfeit kits" and their creations)!

It is a great idea! This month everyone gets to choose a current kit of their own choice, which is pretty fun...but  I discovered their Design Team call which is to counterfeit this kit "Wood Floor" from Scrapbook.com. So I am going to go with that kit this month. The Design Team call date has already past....but that seeing as I loved the kit that they picked for the call I thought that I would have a go and put one together.

The Material List for the Wood Floor Kit is;
Four 12" x 12" sheets of cardstock from Bazzill and We R
Memory Keepers in the following colors: Love 2 Craft Blue, Love to Craft Yellow, Brick and Blackberry Swirl
Nine 12" x 12" patterned papers, which include:
Chronicle from Basic Grey
Afghan from Basic Grey
Create from We R Memory Keepers
Poplin from We R Memory Keepers
Kraft from Echo Park
Reasons Why from My Minds Eye
Remember Journal from My Minds Eye
The Best from My Minds Eye
Classic from My Minds Eye
Embellishments, which include:
One 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock stickers from Echo Park
One 12" x 12" template (mask) from The Crafter's Workshop
Eight glittered border pieces from Heidi Swapp
Five accordion stickers from Basic Grey
15 decorative buttons from My Minds Eye
Four clear acrylic stamps from Prima
One 30 foot roll of designer (washi tape) from Bella Blvd.

I started to shop my own stash and I am pretty happy with the finished results....pretty similar. I made my own accordion medallion things, substituted the decorative buttons with chipboard buttons, stix and dimensional stickers. I also didn't have any stamps that looked even remotely like the ones in the Wood Floor kit so I popped in a compass and some ticket stamps. The only original thing from the Wood Floor kit that I did have in my stash was the Echo Park cardstock 12x12 sticker sheet....mind you it is partly used. My Silhouette Cameo got a bit of a work out too as I cut out a large 12x12 Sunburst for a mask, the banners from various patterned paper scraps and the accordion medallion strips.

The Material list for my kit is:
3 x Bazzill Cardstock - I have no idea of the colour names...sorry
1 x Artic Frog, Pool Water Blue Cardstock
1 x Echo Park 12x12 Cardstock Stickers Everyday Eclectic
Simple Stories Snaplife Snap Stripe
Echo Park Note to Self Viewmaster

American Craft Amy Tangerine Indigo Inspiration
American Craft Amy Tangerine Black and White Chevron from the 12x12 Paper Pack
Echo Park A Walk in the Park Playground
My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday Everyday Fun Ziggity
Embellishments, which include:
Dimension Stickers American Crafts Amy Tangerine Remarks Lets Go
Chipboard Buttons Love Elsie Riley
Washi Tape Youdo
Stix Heidi Swapp No Limits
Stamps:
Die-namics Tickets
Tattered Angel Tattered Travelers Compass

Now I just have to find some time to print off a few photos, clear my desk and use the kit.

Way to go, Tracey! Love this kit you've put together. I too, fell for Wood Floor and counterfeited it. However I put it away for now and chose a different one for this month. I will use the Wood Floor inbetween my regular CKC kits.

Your kit looks awesome, I know you'll have a lot of fun with it! I love the Silhouette rosette cut file, too, another awesome way to use up those off-cuts we seem to accumulate!
